Mardi Gras traditions were honored with a Cajun Buffet, Fat Tuesday lunch, including jambalaya, gumbo, cajun chicken, black beans & rice and fabulous desserts! The afternoon brought our “King Cake” party. Resident Mary Williams had the lucky plate of cake & ice cream and was crowned “Mardi Gras Queen”, and winners of the “Got ‘NO’ Beads” contest were awarded prizes: resident Benda Reece and CNA Jessica Walker held on to the most beads throughout the day (game rules: everybody starts out with one strand of beads & every time someone says ‘No’, you get to take their beads!). During Craft Time on several days, residents made their own masks, and some extra for their friends! On yet another day, staff and residents donned their Mardi Gras gear and joined in the 3rd annual “Mardi Gras Parade”. Accompanied by New Orleans style tunes, the parade traveled the entire building, handing out beads and candy and making lots of noise with their horns! A very special “Thanks” to Rehab Manager Heather All and her Therapy Team of O.T. Jac Durham & O.T. Cynthia Lemaster, D.O.N. Donna Maynard, Social Services Director Connie Still, Medical Records Director Heather Brose, Staff Development Director Michelle Phelps, Dietitian Carra DePriest, L.P.N. Joyce Capozziello, Activity Assistant Oneida McIntosh, and residents Audrey Beyer, Sara Gill, Minnie McGuirt, Alice Gill, Elsie Evans, Buster Tipton, Mary Williams, Anna Smith, Mary Carter, Louisa Williams, Jane Farmer and Resident Council President, Jeanie McCain, for making the Parade a HUGE success. And, of course, Cindi Burton and her outstanding Dietary Team for the Creolicious buffet and King Cake. They never fail to please!!
